About me
Having spent a lifetime as an Industrial Arts teacher, I now have time to devote to my love of all things wood. I am still on a learning journey, and always will be. My passion is not just about making stuff, but learning the joy of the how and why of woodworking and sharing this experience with others. I am still a fundamentalist educator at heart. Being a member of the Kiama Woodcraft Group has allowed me to have an outlet and focus for my creativity.
I don’t do social media, but my family has been hounding me to “get my stuff out there”.
This website has been gifted to me by one of my sons (God love him), so it looks like I have been “outed”.
My philosophy can be summed up in the following words: -
“To capture the spirit of the wood, to create something worthwhile, lasting, and a tribute to the life of the tree, is the challenge of the woodworker”.
My work is often guided by the timber - the shape, the colour, the grain - all of which can dictate the final outcome with each design. I am mindful of the fact that, although it is a renewable resource, each piece of timber is unique and cannot be replicated. It is my responsibility to use it wisely.
I like to think that work done with heart and hand are the hallmarks of the fine woodcraft that I create, whether it be furniture, wall decorations, boxes, pens, toys, clocks, kitchen items or jewellery.
Each piece is crafted not just to be functional and beautiful, but to last for generations. They are potential heirloom items as well as being a carbon bank to help protect our future generations
